6) Basic Life Support (BLS) / Advanced Cardiac Life Support
(ACLS) Provider Course
- The ACLS Provider Course is a commissioned resuscitation
training program which is directly conducted in Hong Kong
by the faculty from the American Heart Association (AHA),
USA, the leading resuscitation authority in the world
for teaching doctors, nurses and paramedics on cardio-pulmonary
resuscitation. The course incorporates theory and practical
skills in managing cardiac arrest and other critical cardio-respiratory
emergencies. It consists of lectures, demonstrations and
small group skill stations.
- Participants are expected to possess basic knowledge of
ECG interpretation and are strongly recommended to read
the manual before the course. As current BLS status is a
pre-requisite for ACLS certification, the AHA Basic Life
Support Courses is provided FREE to uncertified participants
in a separate session before the actual ACLS program starts.
- There have been major changes in the ACLS protocol. This
ACLS provider course will adopt the new guideline according
to the "Guideline 2000 for CPR and ECC"
which was released in August 2000.
- Come and join this program to keep abreast of the current
treatment modality in the field of resuscitation.
- This course will be held a 10-12 times a year.
