Scholarships and Awards

Main Objectives:

• To support member(s) of HKSCC to attend and present in international scientific conferences in the field of Clinical Chemistry.
• To promote professional interests and advancement, and to facilitate scientific exchange between local and overseas professionals.

Award Conditions:

• Both individual and group applications are accepted. All applicants must be a Fellow, Ordinary or Associate member of HKSCC, with at least 2 years of membership prior to the application date.
• The Award must be used within one year from the date of application. Retrospective applications will not be considered.
• The Grant should not be spent with any other sources of financial support for attending the same conference.
• The level of support is entirely at the discretion of the Grants and Award Committee (GAC), and within the funding allotted for the purpose.
• Successful candidate(s) will receive an award of up to HK$28,000, accompanied by engraved plaque(s) to be presented at the Annual General Meeting of HKSCC.
• Successful candidate(s) must use a portion of the grant to purchase short term medical and life insurance that covers the entire duration of the sponsored activity.
• Successful candidate(s) must submit an electronic copy of a conference report detailing his/her participation and activities in the conference within one month after attending the conference.
• Monies will be remitted on reimbursement basis, after completion of all specified requirements
• Application is OPEN at all times until the sponsorship is exhausted.
• Each application would be considered and judged independently for both the eligibility and the amount to be granted.

Selection Criteria:

• Recipient(s) of the Award shall be chosen by the GAC based on the selection criteria and result of interview with eligible applicants if applicable.
• Preference will be given to Fellow / Ordinary member(s) of HKSCC.
• Preference will be given to member(s) with consistent and active participation in the society's continuous education activities.
• Preference will be given to member who has never been to an overseas scientific conference in Clinical Chemistry.
• The Award may be granted to one successful group application; or one or more individual applicants at the discretion of the GAC.
• The decision of the GAC is final.
